How to use the ENT to access your class before the school year starts

Every year, the same question arises as early as July: can one find out their class before the first day of school by logging into their institution’s ENT? The answer depends less on the tool itself than on the schedule set by each middle school or high school for publishing the information. Comparing the different digital entry points (regional ENT, Pronote, ÉduConnect, Scolarité Services) helps to understand where to look, when, and what will actually be visible before September.

Scolarité Services and online registration: open access from summer

Competitors focus on Pronote and the ENT without mentioning a central lever: the Scolarité Services portal of the ministry. Accessible with ÉduConnect or FranceConnect credentials, this service allows families to finalize online registration as soon as the allocation results are published, often at the end of June for high schools.

This dematerialization changes the game. Even before the institution’s ENT is updated, Scolarité Services already displays the assigned institution, level, chosen options, and sometimes the language or section group. At Lycée du Parc, for example, the dematerialized procedure is operational for the 2025 school year, giving parents early access to the student’s administrative data.

A detailed approach to utilize these early accesses is available on the Synopsis Mag website, which lists the different methods according to the type of institution.

However, the detailed composition of classes (nominative list of students, name of the main teacher) is rarely accessible at this stage. Class councils and allocation committees finalize the lists in July, but publication on the ENT generally occurs at the end of August.

Regional ENT, Pronote, and ÉduConnect: comparative table of access before the start of school

The confusion between these platforms remains common. Each provides access to different information at different times. The table below summarizes what each tool allows you to consult before the first day of school.

Platform Information available before the start of school Usual access period
Scolarité Services (ÉduConnect / FranceConnect) Assigned institution, level, options, boarding From the end of June (after AFFELNET or Parcoursup results)
Regional ENT (Île-de-France, Occitanie, etc.) Schedule, assigned class, supply list Last week of August (varies by institution)
Pronote (direct access or via ENT) Class, detailed schedule, name of the main teacher Several days before the start of school, sometimes only the day before
ÉduConnect (authentication portal) No specific content, serves as a key to access other services All year round

The key point to remember: ÉduConnect does not display any school data by itself. It is a unique identifier that opens the door to Scolarité Services, the ENT, or Pronote. Confusing the two wastes time.

Why Pronote shows nothing in July

Pronote directly depends on the data entered by the institution’s administration. As long as the principal has not validated the class distribution in the software, the student space remains empty or displays data from the previous year.

However, some institutions activate Pronote accounts as early as the last week of August to allow families to consult the provisional schedule. The exact date depends on each administration, and no national calendar imposes a uniform deadline.

AFFELNET and high school allocation: what the ENT reveals before other channels

For students entering high school, the AFFELNET-Lycée procedure constitutes the first moment when concrete information appears in a digital space. Allocation results are published at the end of June. From this date, parents can log into Scolarité Services to check the assigned high school.

What appears at this stage:

  • The name of the assigned institution and the address, useful for families who have made several geographical wishes
  • The chosen pathway (general, technological, vocational) and the specialty subjects or stream selected
  • The boarding status, if the request has been validated
  • Instructions to finalize online registration before the deadline set by the institution

Allocation does not yet mean class. A student allocated to general second grade at high school X will not know if they will be in 2nde A or 2nde B until the end of summer. Class groups are formed after processing registrations, taking into account options, living languages, and schedule constraints.

Precautions against sites promising your child’s class in advance

Third-party sites claim to reveal a student’s class before the official publication. Le Journal du Geek has warned about these platforms that collect personal data (name, first name, institution, date of birth) without any real connection to the ministry’s databases.

No external site has access to class distribution databases. This information is stored in school life software (Pronote, EDT, SIECLE) and is only accessible to authorized personnel of the institution. Any contrary promise is either a scam or abusive data collection.

To check their class safely, three reflexes are sufficient:

  • Log in only via the official ENT of the institution or via the ÉduConnect portal of the ministry
  • Never enter your school credentials on a third-party site not referenced by the academy
  • Contact the institution’s secretariat directly by phone if the ENT remains empty a few days before the start of school

The actual window to discover your class on the ENT is between the last week of August and the first day of school. Before this date, Scolarité Services remains the only reliable channel to verify your allocation. It is better to activate your ÉduConnect credentials as early as June rather than looking for shortcuts on dubious platforms.
